An endless fountain of knowledge and intrigue, the vast Flora Danica encyclopaedia, was commissioned by King Frederik V in 1752 to illustrate all the flowers and plants of his kingdom and to disseminate knowledge about nature. The complete work was finished after 120 years, 3200 sketches and 54 books, which now provide a source of reference for each of Flora Danica's beguiling olfactory blend.
